Oluwatoyin Sanni is the Group CEO of United Capital Plc, a leading African investment banking group providing capital and financing solutions to African governments, companies, and individuals. The Group comprises of the following business divisions: Investment Banking, Asset Management, Securities Trading, and Trustee Services.
Prior to her appointment as the Group CEO of United Capital, Toyin Sanni was CEO, United Capital Trustees Limited (formerly known as UBA Trustees Limited). Her career accomplishments, past and present, include establishment of UBA Global Investor Services, President Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers, Chairperson, Technical Committee on Financial Literacy, President, Association of Corporate Trustees, Council Member, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Nigeria, Associate of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria, Member, National Bond Steering Committee, Member, West African Capital Markets Integration Technical Committee and Chairperson, Custody Sub-Committee of the Capital Market. She also held the position of Chairperson of the Nigerian Capital Market Annual Retreat Committee for 2012, 2013 and 2014.
A Lawyer, Chartered Secretary, Stockbroker, and Author with over thirty years’ experience in Corporate Finance, Law and Investor Services, Toyin achieved her first Degree from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife in 1984 (at the age of 18 years), and a Master’s Degree, LLM (Hons), from the University of Lagos in 1998. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985 and holds the professional qualification of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (I.C.S.A.) UK. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (C.I.S.) Nigeria and also graduated from the CEO Program of the Lagos Business School in 2017. Toyin has participated in executive education programs such as the Harvard Business School Disruptive Innovation program, Global Strategic Leadership at the Wharton Business School, Global CEP-AMP at IESE Business School, Portfolio Management Academy of the New York Institute of Finance
and the Peter Drucker Management Program at Robert Kennedy College, Switzerland. She is the author of ‘Yes You Too Can’ and ‘Get to the Top’, inspirational books aimed at empowering the next generation of women leaders.
Toyin has won multiple awards in the course of her career including the Business Day Top 25 CEO on the NSE Award in 2014, 2015 & 2016, the Esq Magazine Business Icon of the Year (2017) Award, the Pearl Award for Most Outstanding CEO in Nigeria (2017), becoming the first female CEO to win the Award in its 22-year history, the AABLA Business Woman of the Year (West Africa) 2017 as well as the prestigious All Africa Business Woman of the Year, 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Also in 2017, she led her company, United Capital to win 5 Pearl Awards including the best overall public company award, the highest dividend award, the best corporate governance award and the sectoral award in the other financial services category.
